Safely Arrived In Metz

We have all arrived safely here in Metz. We drove through the night on Friday to ensure that we got here Saturday lunctime – the plan was that we were going to fly on Saturday evening, but unfortunately they would not open the refuelling for us until 8:30pm! Back to our trip over, the only problem that we did have was when we were at the Dover port. It was just absolute chaos! We ended up being in the queue for check in for around 2 hours!!

We did manage to get on an earlier ferry, which meant there would be no rush on the other side to get to Metz. We opted to go through Belgium and Luxembourg as there would be no toll roads and the speed limit was a bit quicker. We had briefing last night and then managed to refuel eventually whilst watching all the balloons launching – a world record 363 balloons!

I’ve not been here since 2009 so the airfield is all new in the sense of where we are located and new hangars etc. It is all really nice and the refuelling is brilliant!
As it is currently raining, we’re going off to do a bit of sight seeing – we will go to briefing later but not hopeful that there will be a flight.

Chris is happy to be in Metz, The new briefing hangar, and the trailer that we have with us!
